Pediatric dentists not only receive specialized training on treating children in residency, but also spend a significant amount of time learning to provide quality care for patients with special healthcare needs. Through her research in both dental school and residency and years of treating pediatric patients with special needs, Dr. Murphy is aware of the challenges parents face in seeking dental treatment for their children and strives to provide compassionate and patient centered care for patients with special needs. Through her medical knowledge and hospital training, she is comfortable in coordinating care with your child’s physicians and other specialists as needed and making referrals as necessary. Dr. Murphy takes the time to work with each patient and family to try to provide dental care without requiring sedation or general anesthesia. If patients do require additional assistance to safely complete needed dental treatment, a referral for sedation or hospital dentistry will be made.
